New Year, New EMOM!
Electronic Music Open Mic, or EMOM, differs from a standard Open Mic night in that the music is usually highly experimental, although not a requirement, and it always uses some form of synthesis or electronic enhancement.
This new EMOM will be held on the First Monday of January, February and March at LVLS in Hackney Wick, from 7 to 10pm.
How to Show Your Support
EMOM x LVLS is a free entry event. We strongly encourage you to treat yourself to drinks and food and bring your friends to support the generosity of this essential grass roots venue. For our performers, this could be their first ever chance to showcase their work, and you can say you were there from Day One!
Exposure doesn’t pay the bills. If you wish to show your support to the artists and crew, any links provided by our performers will be shared here. You can follow your favourites on streaming services, buy any merch they may have, or simply leave a donation. Links to all of these things will be provided via this site, to try to give back to these artists and volunteers.
Performers: First Steps
Pre-bookings are already open for January. If you’re not sure you can make it, some walk-in slots will be available on the night. You can register your interest and even pre-book by e-mailing sy@sectorproduction.uk , or just arrive early and ask for Sy. If you are already on the EMOM WhatsApp group, you can find me on there too and we can just start planning!
Your EMOM Set
You will have 20 minutes to perform. This does include setup time, however we like to have two areas of the stage so that you can set up while the act before you is on, so when your time starts you are ready to go straight away! If you are pre-booked, you will know when your set time is before you arrive. If you are a walk-in, please arrive from 6:30 and we will issue you a walk-in slot on a first come, first served basis.
Tech Notes
The Sound Engineer provides DI boxes on the stage to plug into. We ask that you be familiar with how your setup works, and be sure the signal comes out of 1/4 inch TS or TRS jack leads. If you have 3.5mm aux cables, converters can be supplied. Most EMOM performers get their music down to a single stereo output, but the stage will have a total of 8 channels should you need it.
